Wedding Traditions: Something Blue

Warm and colorful greetings to all Lots of Love Readers! Every bride wants everything perfect on her wedding day. According to tradition, a bride will have a beautiful wedding and a good married life ahead of her if she has these five things with her on her wedding day: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe!

Something old represents the bride's past, her traditions, culture and her family. Something new symbolizes the new life ahead of her as she journeys into marriage. Something borrowed stands for happiness. A silver sixpence represents prosperity. And of course, there's something blue, which represents love, fidelity and good fortune.

There are a million and one ways of integrating blue into the whole wedding theme. But if it is nowhere near your preferred color palette, you can still discreetly incorporate it into your wedding style. Here are some ideas for a bride's Something Blue:

Travel in style in a blue vintage car

Carry a bouquet of blue flowers

Accentuate your wedding gown with a blue gem pendant

There's a lot of buzz about colored wedding dress  this year and this lovely powder blue wedding gown will surely leave everybody in awe at your wedding.

If blue is not the prominent color for your wedding, you can still have your "something blue" without bringing too much attention into it.

You can opt for a powder blue petticoat

Or these sexy blue shoes right under your wedding dress

Who says you can't have a wedding garter in blue?

You can tuck this dainty blue hanky on your purse

Make a statement with your wedding shoes
And embroider a special message under your gown.
There is nothing more lovely, friendly and charming a relationship, communion or company than a good marriage.

Wedding Traditions: Something Old

Warm greetings to all our Lots of Love Readers! There's always going to be a long list of things to prepare for a wedding. But whether it is something simple or lavish, there are some things that have to be included in the list as required by tradition. They are "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a silver sixpence in her shoe."

Something Old represents the bride's past and her family. It symbolizes the connection between her old life and her future life in marriage. Something old can be an heirloom, a vintage item, a treasure or a sentimental piece from the bride's past.

Here are 10 creative ideas to consider for your something old:

You and your groom driving around in a top-down vintage bridal car

Carry an antique compact mirror on your purse. It always pays to have one on hand in case you want to check on your make-up.

Photo Charms on the bridal bouquet. Pin framed pictures of your loved ones on your wedding bouquet. Even if they cannot attend your wedding, they're presence will surely be felt.

It's a great occasion to wear that heirloom jewelry that your mom handed down to you as part of the family jewels!

Mix the old with the new. Accentuate your wedding gown with something from your mom or grandmother's wedding gown! It would make them really proud!

Using your parent's wedding cake topper on your wedding cake will surely bring back lovely memories of their own wedding.

Rummage through those silver your mom gave you and see if you can find the cake forks they used at their wedding. You can use it on your own wedding too!

Here's a really cool thing to do: Recreate your parent's wedding photo on your wedding day.

You can smash a champagne glass from your relatives or parent's wedding or anniversary during the ceremony. Mazel Tov!

And lastly, you can showcase your parents and grandparents' wedding photos at the reception.

Wedding in Colors: Sand

Good day to all our Lots of Love Readers. There's something feminine and sexy about weddings in neutral colors. If you are not comfortable having a colorful wedding, you can always opt for a more subdued tone such as Sand. This color has an amiably neutral feel into it. As the name suggests, Sand will remind you of the beach and the cool summer breeze making it a perfect palette for a summer wedding. At the same time, it also has a rustic appeal and therefore makes a fine choice for country-themed weddings. It can be used on its own or combined with other subtle colors such as paloma or other light shades of brown.

Here as some beautiful details from Sand-themed weddings:

The groom's men and the groom would look neat in this attire

And the bridesmaids would look sexy in sand-colored dresses

Draperies hanging from tree branches serving as backdrop for the ceremony.

Elegant Tablescapes

Gorgeous centerpieces

Why not have a wedding cake with stripes

Or have little wedding cakes instead of the usual stacked and layered

If you are having a beach wedding, you can give out scented candles with starfish designed candle holders

You may also want to pack some spa essentials inside burlap pouches.
